SAIC Design is celebrating their first year in the world's creative capital by opening the doors to their studio and giving a glimpse into their exciting future mobility design centre. They will have designers at work, collaborative projects, research activities, and various properties on display. Situated at the heart of a vibrant and exciting creative city provides the chance for continual inspiration, collaboration and creative networking. The studio provides a creative hub for designers to explore new and innovative design proposals to enhance the SAIC Motor product portfolio brands of MG and ROEWE. The design team come from across Europe and further afield to bring true cultural diversity to the studio’s creative output.
To mark this event SAIC Design have teamed up with local London artist David Schmidt to create a one off commission on one of their MG cars. This will be unveiled on the 19th September at the showroom on Marylebone Road.
There will be privileged access to the studio environment to engage with the design team, see design works, experience VR as an automotive design tool and to discuss the future of automotive and future mobility opportunities. There will also be works from up and coming talents from design schools in Europe as part of the 7th SAIC Design Challenge, which asks students studying design to consider an MG for 2030 in the age of 5G technology.
